Stephen Fry in America by Stephen Fry, photos by Vanda Vucicevic

In Stephen Fry in America, the erudite British writer/actor travels through all 50 of the United States and gives a humorous and quite readable account of the nation’s diversity from a foreigner’s point of view. Fry’s trademark wit spares no one, least of all himself, and yet his admiration for all things American shines clearly through. His ability to relate to all types of people sets the reader instantly at ease; one gets the feeling that a more polite, funny and charming dinner guest could not possibly exist. Touchingly, he reveals a genuine longing for his imaginary “twin”, Steve, who grew up on baseball and rock music, drove his own car and exuded confidence “almost to the point of rudeness, unlike Stephen who veered unconvincingly between shyness and showing off.” Fabulous photos by Vanda Vucicevic add to the appeal and make this a beautiful coffee table book as well as an exhilarating and insightful read. ___________________________________________________________
