SDCL’s Most Wanted Books Campaign

Have you heard about SDCL’s Most Wanted? It’s our new donation campaign that provides our customers with a simple, concrete way to make a difference. We’re naming a Book of the Month, and asking the community to donate a new copy on SDCL’s Most Wanted Donation Day, the second Thursday of each month. We’re also creating a Top Ten Most Wanted list each month, which will give customers more books to consider donating. Donations will directly support San Diego County Library’s collection and help us keep waiting lists down!

Our July Book of the Month is Smokin’ Seventeen by Janet Evanovich, and we’re hoping you’ll donate a copy on Thursday, July 14. It’s currently the book with the highest waiting list, with 445 customers waiting.

That means many customers will be waiting months to read it, but you can help by donating a copy! Evanovich’s previous novel, Sizzling Sixteen, has checked out over 2,400 times in the past ten months!  We anticipate that Smokin’ Seventeen, the next title in this series, will have a similar demand.

If you want to donate money, there is the easy link right here where you can donate anytime.  The donation will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $200,000. It will go straight  into the collection to purchase popular items. You can also donate at any of our  library branches, or online at, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We also have a book list on Amazon with our Top Ten Most Wanted titles, updated each month. By searching Amazon’s wish list feature for “San Diego County Library,” customers can easily order one of the books we need most.

The Top Ten Most Wanted books for July are:

Smokin Seventeen by Janet Evanovich

Bossypants by Tina Fey

10th Anniversary by James Patterson

Dreams of Joy by Lisa See

State of Wonder by Ann Patchett

Stories I Only Tell My Friends by Rob Lowe

The Paris Wife by Paula McLain

Buried Prey by John Sanford

In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson

The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan
