Learning to Swim is a refreshing dip into a debut novel situated in the chilling waters straddling the northern border of the Adirondacks. From the first page, a fast current of events ensues as the heroine impulsively dives into Lake Champlain to save a child tossed overboard from a passing ferryboat. Moving swiftly, the novel initiates a tense sequence of interlaced plots navigating between the privileged parlors of French Canada, police stations and mountain towns. This book will captivate readers seeking a new voice in fiction that creates the psychological intrigue, mystery and romance reminiscent of Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca. I am looking forward to the second book in this series, A Cold and Lonely Place, which promises to be equally as thrilling as the first.
